![]() The server who waited on me last year said it seems to be "hit or miss" with having a Christmas tree in the restaurant. You could be right about why the decorations come and go. Maybe Storytellers will be a good choice - even if it is lacking a tree and a gingerbread house!! LOL! But unless you hear from people who have actually eaten these meals at these places on the actual holiday, I don't know how much more we will find out until the Dining people can tell you something. That at least gives you a guideline to work with - you know which places might be serving special food this year, even if the food items are unclear. So far, all we know is the stuff I have posted in Post #3 of the Superthread, about the restaurants that have the special holiday meals for Thanksgiving and Christmas (I think Plaza Inn is one of them but there are others too). I hope you have some luck! I know you've been trying to find out for a while about specific Christmas day meals - that are actually specific to that day and not just the same meals served on any other day! The tree disappeared when the gingerbread house disappeared, I guess. Storytellers Cafe didn't even have a Christmas tree! I told my server that Storytellers was a restaurant begging for a Christmas tree because it has such a cozy, earthy type of environment, and he had no clue why they stopped putting the tree up for the season. When I tried to ask other CM's about it, they looked at me like I was crazy. He thought that maybe someone had broken it or tried to steal it or something. In fact, all but one server I asked had never even heard of the gingerbread house! The one guy who had heard about it and remembered it from previous years said he caught a brief glimpse of it early in the season last year (he said it was kind of a Haunted Mansion-type of gingerbread theme), and then he came to work later that day or the next day and it was gone forever and no one seemed to know anything about it, including his fellow CM's. Storytellers does not put out the gingerbread house anymore - at least, that's what I was told last year. The only entree I found disappointing was the Sonoma Valley chicken. I've had just about everything on their menu. Everything is prepared with fresh and quality ingredients. The selection at Storytellers may not be as grand as other restaurants but our family feels the quality of the food is far better than most places we've tried. ![]() Many other cooked entrees and side dishes were offered as well. ![]() For Christmas Eve the buffet offered ham, turkey, and prime rib at the carving station. You can order off their menu which has a limited selection or you can choose the buffet option. The food is considered classic California/American style consisting of seafood, steaks, pasta, & salads. The best touch of all are the gas buring fireplaces in the dining areas. Last year I recall they had Christmas decorated cookies & other deserts. My kids loved it while we waited for our table. One year they had a huge ginger bread house by the waiting area. They don't do anything over the top for Christmas but there are small and subtle touchs to remind you it's the holidays. We've had very enjoyable Christmas Eve dinners at the Storytellers Cafe inside the Grand Californian hotel. ![]()
